Fashioning America: Grit To Glamour

Take a broad look at fashion history with an emphasis on the spirit of innovation and the diversity of the United States’s fashion heritage. The exhibition spotlights over 100 American designers and brands with garments from the 19th century to present day.

Join NOFW Wednesday, September 20 | 4:30PM for a guided tour with Mel Buchanan, Curator of Decorative Arts & Design, NOMA. In addition to the amazing designers highlighted, the exhibit celebrates local designers with a mural installation showing the grit, talent, and impact that fashion continues to have on the Gulf Coast region. The designers are Sophie Omoro, Tabitha Bethune, Carolina Gallop, Suzanne Perron & Katie Schmidt.

That same afternoon Rhonda Corley, Fashion Illustrator will be hosting a hands-on workshop on fashion sketching (limited space.)

On Wednesdays, Louisiana residents receive free general admission to the museum, courtesy of The Helis Foundation. Access to Fashioning America: Grit to Glamour is an additional $10 per adult. Get more info here.
